Are
you apprehensive or alarmed about the daily stories
you hear from different forms of news media on global
conditions and the concern they tell us we should all
have regarding climate change, water shortages,
poverty,
failing economies, environmental degradation, or forms
of human conflict? Do you fear for the well-being of
your own family and the community in which you live?
Do you really understand why you might feel this fear
and does it in-turn affect your making of decisions,
sometimes in the absence of all the facts about a particular
issue? And as a result are you unsure about what to
do, how to take some positive action, for yourself,
your family, your community, and the place (region)
you call home? Or have you convinced yourself there
is no reason to worry? You
have come to the right place!
Fear,
anxiety and denial are not sustainable. Only hope and
the courage to act
decisively are sustainable.
Sustainability Now! (SN),
a non-profit, community-based organization in Seattle,
WA, is ready to sit down with you and other like-minded people
to talk
about what your community or organization might
do to avoid the fear of denial created by daily
news stories. Working hand-in-hand, we can assist your community
to start taking charge of its own destiny by examining
your core values and the things important to you
that will represent a sustainable future. Supported
by a foundation of solid ideals,
SN can effectively introduce the concepts, tools,
and practices of
sustainability to any individual, group, community,
business, government, or practitioner in a way
that will promote actions urgently needed to address
the many things that bother you about our
world today.
You can take the first step in this
regard by indicating your interest for participating
in
the SN Community
Sustainability Assessment (CSA)
initiative, at no cost to you. How sustainable
is your community now? Does it desire to improve
its environmental and socio-economic circumstances
to become more sustainable? Contact
us and let
us sit down with you to work through your concerns
and design an effective, sustainable way forward!
By taking this step, community members can become
more aware of what sustainability means and how
they can further improve the place they call home – a
community, a watershed or coastal area, and/or
a region. Then we can assist you in solving any
problems or meeting any challenges your organization
or community faces in defining a sustainable future.
